Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis (RAS), commonly known as canker sores, is characterized by recurring painful ulcers in the mouth. These ulcers typically have a white or yellow center with a red border and can appear on the inside of the lips, cheeks, or tongue. The cause of RAS is not fully understood but may be linked to stress, certain foods, or minor injuries. Although there is no cure, treatment focuses on reducing pain and promoting healing through the use of topical corticosteroids or mouth rinses.
