Pneumothorax, or collapsed lung, occurs when air enters the pleural space, preventing the lung from expanding fully. This can happen due to trauma, spontaneous rupture of lung tissue, or medical procedures. Symptoms include sudden chest pain, difficulty breathing, and rapid heart rate.
